A constantly rising force while also a veteran in the bass music scene, VEIL has now released her much-anticipated debut album, ‘HIGH VOLTAGE’ on her highly respected label, Street Ritual. Through its compelling music and synchronized visuals, the album tells the story of AZAL, a central character navigating the mysterious space known as THE HOLLOW, a cross-dimensional zone of infinite timelines and realities. Each track reveals more of AZAL’s story, following her as she masters her power to shape and shift the realities within THE HOLLOW.
Visuals are an integral part of the HIGH VOLTAGE experience, with 5/9 and Towr Media contributing their creative expertise to bring AZAL’s world to life. The album’s accompanying visuals are designed to mirror its sonic depth, plunging the audience further into THE HOLLOW.
Throughout HIGH VOLTAGE, VEIL seamlessly blends subgenres, creating a sonic tapestry that invites its audience to explore multiple realms within her music. Kicking off with ‘RESPAWN,’ VEIL immediately ramps up the energy with heavy undertones of low-end bass. Next is ‘YU,’ radiating eerie, deep dubstep that promises to send shivers down listeners’ spines, then ‘FLASHBACK,’ weaving distorted vocals with trippy experimental sound design.
Teaming up with HerShe on ‘MOVE FAST AND BREAK THINGS,’ this track truly feels like a portal into a chaotic, bass-powered, futuristic reality. ‘BACK BACK’ relentlessly throws down leftfield bass, leading into ‘00.00,’ which flawlessly merges digitized vocal samples with grimy drum & bass.
‘00.00’ is followed by ‘5.9,’ a spellbinding interlude layered with ‘5 9’ uttered in various voices and echoing. Dedicated to 5/9’s role in this project, it is played out as a malware code that infects the system in THE HOLLOW. ‘OMEGA,’ a collaboration with Digital Vagabond, opens the second half of the LP; a slow-tempo expedition across the underground that will leave anyone in range questioning the nature of their reality.
‘EVENT HORIZON’ ensues next, which exudes mind-altering, robotic bass. ‘ALL OF EVERYTHING FOR FOREVER’ marks the tenth track, breaking all laws of standard music production and exploring uncharted sonic waters. Rooted in heavy dubstep, ‘OVERLOAD’ closes out the album with pulsating basslines, elaborate rhythms, and atmospheric sounds.
Looking ahead, VEIL is gearing up for a headline tour in early 2025, where she will carry ‘HIGH VOLTAGE’ to the forefront with live performances featuring custom visuals, cutting-edge soundscapes, and a storyline that evolves on stage.
Additionally, VEIL has major performances lined up at EDC Orlando, Cyclops Cove 3, Radiance NYE in Chicago, a direct support slot for A Hundred Drum, and more. She is primed to make a significant impact on the electronic music scene in the coming months.
