Louis Vuitton has unveiled its Pre-Spring 2023 “Fall in Love” collection with David Mancuso as the inspiration. The late Men’s Artistic Director, Virgil Abloh, built the newest men’s collection on Mancuso’s legendary loft parties in New York.
According to a statement via Hybebeast, the ensemble “explores how DJs and designers sample established genres to create sounds and looks that resonate with the outlooks of new generations.” “Fall In Love” offers contemporary variations on the 70s culture during Mancuso’s events at The Loft with various footwear, luxury workwear and casual activewear. The footwear includes ‘suede chukka boot, square-toed leather loafer marked by a foam sole with monogram decoration, soft leather dancing shoes and oxford styles.’ While activewear comes in two ranges: the Taurillon Denim line and the Record Canvas.

Abloh took on a personal interest in Mancuso and his parties being a former DJ and producer. He conceptualized and worked on the collection prior to his untimely demise last year. The team at Louis Vuitton took over “Fall In Love” until its completion and runway debut.
David Mancuso, billed as one of the first-ever DJs, played a pivotal role in the dance music scene. He conceptualized The Loft in the 1970s and it soon became a popular venue in New York. Frankie Knuckles, Nicky Siano, Jellybean Benitez, and Larry Levan are some notable regulars of The Loft back then. The venue, music and clothing resonated with Mancuso’s personal beliefs in civil rights, freedom, women’s liberation, the LGBTQ+ movement and psychedelia. The DJ exposited his belief through his dress code while playing at The Loft.
