Blake Lively and the Pop Stars Stun at the Met Gala 2022

Hosted by Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the fashion world’s most glamorous and starriest event, the MET Gala, took place today.

The much-loved celebration of fashion is a charity event that is considered a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and raises eight-figure sums year after year.

The theme for this year’s MET Gala is “Gilded Glamour” which according to ELLE is “intended as an homage to American history, particularly that of the Gilded Age, which ran roughly from 1870 to 1900.”

Though not everyone keeps up with the theme, each year the list of attendees who don’t stick to it seems to be getting longer and longer. Just like every year, the MET Gala exhibition this year too was star-studded! It includes familiar faces like actors from the big and small screens, models, artists, etc. We are going to talk about the pop stars and musical artists who showed off their looks today at the MET!

Although stars like Rihanna and Queen Bey were unfortunately not in attendance, and we missed their presence deeply, some of our pop stars, too, were stunning at the event.

 

Before we begin, we MUST talk about, (not Bruno) but the talk of all your social media feeds and the internet today, the ‘Gossip Girl’ star – Blake Lively! The star opted to work with her go-to red carpet brands – Atelier Versace. Her first outfit was a copper dress which was then unveiled to reveal a green one. It represented the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Grand Central Terminal, as per CBS News.

 

 

The star has been known for “understanding the assignment” each year and has been lauded for the same.

Lively and her husband actor – Ryan Reynolds were co-hosting this evening and their looks certainly did not disappoint.

 

 

Actor, singer-songwriter, playwright, and filmmaker – Lin-Manuel Miranda wore his long-tailed best designed by ‘Hamilton’ costume designer Paul Tazewell. The star was joined by his wife Vanessa Nadal on the carpet.

 

 

Kacey Musgraves hit the steps of MET in a Moschino Gown

Musgraves’ black gown had stunning colorful embellishments. The gown had a bow across the neckline and the singer looked glamorous with a black feather fan, black gloves and diamonds.

The suit’s jacket had floral embroidered details.

 

Janelle Monae shines at the MET donning a glittering look

The Grammy nominted singer stunned in a futuristic Ralph Lauren look with a glittering headpiece that was attached to their black and white figure-hugging gown.

 

Shawn Mendes wore a Tommy Hilfiger suit and peacock to the 2022 MET

The singer looked sleek in a red and navy coat. Mendes’ initials were embroidered on the its inner lining. Once his coat was removed, a sleek navy suit was revealed at the red carpet! The 23-year-old singer’s look was completed with a matching turtleneck and nail polish.

 

Anderson .Paak too was in attendance!

The Grammy winning musician showed off his beautifully embroidred coat by Gucci.

 

Rapper Jack Harlow looks suave in a chocolate brown suit

Harlow rocked a Givenchy suit that was piared with classic leather dress shoes.

 

Riz Ahmed AKA Riz MC makes a POWERFUL statement at the MET!

The Oscar-winning actor and musician Riz Ahmed wore a silk shirt and undershirt to the event. The star topped off with an understated Cartier necklace. “This is an homage to the immigrant workers who kept the Gilded Age going,” Ahmed said.

In their article about the same, Vogue’s Emma Specter wrote: “Ahmed’s nod to the reality of the Gilded Age—a time in American history when rapid economic growth benefited the wealthy few, while leading to rampant exploitation for the majority of immigrant workers—was a powerful evocation of the very real persecution that immigrants, and particularly immigrants of color, still face in the U.S. and elsewhere, with the effects of racist Gilded Age-era policies like the Chinese Exclusion Act still affecting how Asian immigrant groups are treated today.”

In a sparkling Ralph Lauren gown, the singer walked the carpet alongside husband Swizz Beatz with a cape that featured the NYC skyline embroidered in sparkles.

 

Billie Eilish Nails the MET Gala Theme

Superstar Billie Eilish donned a Gucci look (ivory and Duchesse satin corseted gown) by Alessandro Michele. It was made entirely with upcycled materials.

The Spanish singer wore  awhite feathered dress to the MET Gala. She adorned with an urban touch by wearing dark glasses.

Katy Perry’s style for the evening was Ocar de la Renta’s gown. It featured sheer black lace and a super-short skirt. The skirt was under the star’s bustled train.

 

Olivia Rodrigo looks magical on the Red Carpet

Completing her look with matching butterfly hair adornments, Rodrigo wore a sparkling lavender gown by Versace. It had off-shoulder straps and the star wore sheer gloves (she’s been seen in gloves a lot recently), topping off the look with a simple necklace and dangling earrings.

 

Lizzo looks FLAWLESS at the MET GALA 2022

The star walked the red carpet with a accessory! She wore a hand-embroidered gold and black coat. Lizzo rocked it with a black, curve-hugging gown by Thom Browne which she paired with a gold choker necklace.

“It took 22,000 hours to make this coat, I’m just so happy to be in it, I feel like a piece of art,” the artist said during the Vogue livestream from the carpet.

The rapper’s showstopper look was from Burberry by Riccardo Tisci. Nicki Minaj wore a body-hugging strapless leather jumpsuit that was cinched at the waist by an oversized buckle. It also had a dramatic feathered and multitiered train. The star’s accessories were unique – a black leather baseball cap and headband combo.

Normani looked RADIANT on the red carpet as she donned a black crop top and skirt ensemble by Christian Siriano.

Cardi B Dazzles in Versace at the MET Gala

In a blingy take on the Gilded Age, the rapper’s gown was covered in tulle and seven types of chunky gold chains. Some were even punctuated with Versace’s signature Medusa head medallions.

 

Chloe Bailey in a Strapless Dress

The singer donned a fitted bustier with asymmetrical cups in her Area gown straight from Rodarte’s couture spring/summer 2022 collection. The outfit had a sculpted skirt with exaggerated hip accents. The other half of the sister-duo Chloe x Halle’s Halle was missing as the ‘Have Mercy’ singer rocked a thigh-high slit.
