The beautiful twelve countries of South America are home to a plethora of music festivals. Whether you’re a local or a tourist experiencing the continent’s lush milieu, music festivals are a prime spot to discover local talents, emerging or established artists, and different genres of music. As we near 2023’s festival season, find a list of seven music festivals that will be held in South America this year!
Tomorrowland Brasil
Tomorrowland Brasil returns to the country this October in São Paulo. The three-day music festival will be held at Parque Maeda in São Paulo from 12-14 October. The line-up for this festival is yet to be announced; so keep your eyes peeled on the official website for more information. The inaugural edition of Tomorrowland Brasil was held in 2015.
MITA Festival 2023
Music Is The Answer (MITA) Festival will see the same line-up at two locations (São Paulo and Rio de Janiero) this year, with Lana Del Rey and Florence + The Machine headlining the festival at both locations. The two-day music festival will be held from May 27-28 and June 3-4 in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, respectively. MITA will also host HAIM, Australian DJ/producer Flume, Brazilian electronic duo Tropkillaz, and many more.
The ‘Nonsense’ singer Sabrina Carpenter, rock band The Mars Volta, Brazilian musician Jorge Ben Jor, and Brazilian singer-songwriter Duda Beat are amongst the bunch of exciting artists on the line-up.
Playground Music Festival
Scheduled to take place on July 15, 2023, the Playground Music Festival has announced phase one line-up for the festival! Chapeleiro, Diego Miranda, French artist Sirus Hood, Viviana Casanova, and Juno Reactor are among the acts unveiled as part of the initial bill.
It also includes Tim Baresko, Bruno Furlan, Ella Whatt, Paranormal Attack, Amine Edge & DANCE, and many more thrilling names!
Lollapalooza Brasil
Lollapalooza Brasil will go on for three days in São Paulo from March 24-26, 2023. Billie Eilish and Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora have been confirmed for the event via a video message shared on Instagram. The ‘bad guy’ singer will head to the Brasil edition of the festival on March 24, while Aurora is slated to perform on March 26, the third day of the festival.
South Korean indie-rock band The Rose, Lil Nas X, Rosalía, Fred Again.., Polo & Pan, and Hot Milk have been announced as some of the performers at Lollapalooza Brasil. Also watch 100 Gecs, Purple Disco Machine, Sofi Tukker, Suki Waterhouse, Jamie xx, ‘Euphoria’ actor Dominic Fike, and more live at this music festival.
Estéreo Picnic
Estéreo Picnic brings you some of the biggest international artists and notable homegrown talents at one big festival! Headliners Blink-182 and Tame Impala will head to Bogotá on March 23. This music festival will be held from March 23–26 this year in Colombia. Sofi Tukker, Melanie Martinez, Juliana, T1975, and Cigarettes After Sex are also on the bill.
The four-day festival tapped Drake, Tove Lo, Sen Senra, Willow, Fred again.., Rosalía, and more for the second day! Wu-Tang Clan and The Chemical Brothers will headline Day 3, while Billie Eilish, Kali Uchis, Polo & Pan, Jesse Baez, and Lil Nas X are among those that will take the Estéreo Picnic 2023 stage on the fourth and final day of the festival.
Lollapalooza Chile
Some of the most popular artists on the planet are set to grace the Lollapalooza Chile stage next month! Lollapalooza Chile will be held on March 17, 18, and 19 in Santiago, Chile, this year. Day 1 of the festival will see performances from the likes of Kali Uchis, electronic music duo Gorgon City, El Cruce, Billie Eilish, Mora, Lil Nas X, and German duo Claptone.
Experience live music from Dutch DJ/producer Armin van Buuren, Clemente, Drake, Suki Waterhouse, Rosalía, Australian electronic music DJ/producer Allison Wonderland, and Omar Apollo, among others, on March 18 at this music festival. Purple Disco Machine, Blink-182, Yungblud, Tame Impala, Gufi, Wallows, and a bunch of other exciting musical acts will take the Lollapalooza Chile stage on day 3!
Ultra Brasil
The thrilling line-up of Ultra Brasil will set the stage ablaze! The two-day electronic music festival will be held on April 21 and 22 this year. Featuring some of the most unique stage designs ever witnessed, Ultra Brasil is set to host world-class acts such as Dutch DJ/producer and remixer Nicky Romero, English electronic music group Above & Beyond, Solardo, and Swedish DJ Axwell. DJ Snake, Marshmello, Alan Walker, Pan-Pot, Italian DJ/producer Sam Paganini, Paco Osuna, and German DJ/electronic music producer Loco Dice are some of the premier electronic music acts on the line-up.
