‘Taambdi Chaamdi’ Gets Fresh Garnish From KSHMR

Marathi house mega-hit ‘Taambdi Chaamdi’ from producer Kratex and rapper Shreyas has received a thumping revamp from KSHMR, who slips in a reinvigorated vibrancy to the dancefloor anthem.

Chart-topping and dance arena-dominant M-house score ‘Taambdi Chaamdi,’ which translates to “shiny brown skin,” gains sways of electro-house, progressive-house, and a renewed danceable energy from genre-bending producer and artist Niles Hollowell-Dhar. Best known under the alias KSHMR, he is renowned for merging Western and Indian sounds into his catalog of mixes and also slots in at number 14 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs of 2024 list.

Originally released in May 2024 with music producer Krunal Ghorpade aka Kratex and multi-lingual rapper Shreyas Sagvekar at the helm, ‘Taambdi Chaamdi’ brings to the forefront Marathi culture and heritage with its jumpy melody, dynamic hook, and flowing rap verses. Its music video was conceptualized by the two and directed by Karan Hanskar and Omkar Kanerkar. Since its release, it has racked up nearly 200K views thus far and also supplied an easy-to-mimic dance routine that has gone viral since.

It ends with a delightful message that reads ‘Fun Is Ageless,’ which seemingly is where KSHMR nicks up the tune and topples in his signature style and flair, in turn adding to the legacy of the single.

KSHMR discovered the track online and was moved by its genuineness and rich cultural pride. This sentiment prompted him to reach out to Kratex and subsequently conjure his slap-house rendition while maintaining its original flavor. Via press release, the artist explained, “I felt this song had a special energy that couldn’t be ignored. Kratex and Shreyas poured so much soul into it, and I knew I wanted to bring my touch to the song.”

KSHMR’s remix of ‘Taambdi Chaambdi’ was released on November 22 via KSHMR’s Dharma Worldwide record label, while the original was the first Marathi language song to be released on Spinnin’ Records.

“My dream was always to have my music recognized on an international level,” communicated Kratex in the same press statement. “Seeing KSHMR take this track and reimagine it is more than just an achievement—it’s a celebration of our culture.” Meanwhile, Shreyas Sagvekar also conveyed, “The response to Taambdi Chaambdi has proven that Marathi music can connect with anyone. We’re showing the world the power of our culture.”
