Bangalore-based singer-songwriter Frizzell D’Souza has cast out her newest composition ‘Symmetries,’ a precursor to her much-awaited second EP ‘In My Asymmetry.’
On the heels of ‘Diana,’ Frizzell D’Souza has launched the alternative/indie pop song ‘Symmetries,’ cloaked in the idea that genuine beauty and meaning often lie in the in-between spaces. “‘Symmetries’ represents an evolution in my sound, moving beyond my relatively acoustic catalog into fresh sonic territory,” shares Frizzell.
Produced by musician Aadarsh Subramaniam, the breezy tune courses through with light acoustic guitar strums, bopping bass plucks, and rhythmic percussive activity. Frizzell’s honeyed voice layered over the bass and drums deliver a flawless segment, and its production also graciously reels in alluring vocal harmonies toward its finale.
Speaking about the song and its essence, the artist says, “It’s a reflection on how we’re often taught to view the world in binary terms when life actually thrives in the more nuanced areas.”
True to her acoustic guitar style of presentation, the ‘Foolish Once Again’ fame has also presented an unplugged rendition of the song.
Still in the early stages of her music career, Frizzell has already racked up listeners worldwide with her storytelling via her alternative pop, soft rock, and acoustic pop melodies. Her debut EP ‘The Hills Know of You’ was ranked among Rolling Stone India’s 10 Best Indian EPs of 2022 and she was also a nominee in The Indian Music Diaries’ Best Pop Artist/Singer-Songwriter of the Year category in 2023.
Adding another feather to her cap, Frizzell D’Souza also recently made her TedX debut in her hometown of Mangalore, performing her music and sharing a few stories. Her second EP, ‘In My Asymmetry,’ is slated for release on July 17.
