In a showcase that comes full circle, Newcastle upon Tyne’s Skantia darts back to where touring started for him, back in 2022, to the land down under. Since his last visit, the DJ/producer has taken the DnB scene by storm, accumulating releases on labels such as UKF, Vision, Overview Music, and Drum&BassArena in addition to Ram Records.
Now armed with popular releases ‘Autumn Leaves,’ ‘Evergreen,’ ‘Upside’ and his 2023 EP ‘Contrast,’ the DJ/producer arrives in New Zealand with concerts set up in Auckland, Ohakune, Christchurch, and Queenstown. Skantia is pinned to unleash his brand of DnB mixes at the 300-capacity live events hub, The Mothership, in Auckland on Friday, June 21, 2024.
The gig kicks off from 10 PM onwards and sees some of the finest electronic artists occupy slots on the card. Drum & bass prodigy Taiga (Mathias Thompson) opens the show, followed by a B2B session from Auckland’s very own Kenzo and Hamilton-based Ava.
Closely mirroring Skantia’s career trajectory, DJ Taiga too has become one to be on the lookout for, etching a name for himself in DnB lore by opening for artists such as P Money x Whiney, Example, Crossy, and Andromedik to name a few. Taiga also made his music festival debut at SoundSplash Festival 2023, occupying a slot on the roots and culture stage at just 17 years of age.
