Mumbai-based musician Rahul Advani’s new four-track EP ‘Elements’ explores themes of mental health, camaraderie, and self-discovery, hauling inspiration from his fascination with mythological tales and the symbolism of nature in these narratives.
Indie singer-songwriter Rahul Advani tidily compiles his previous outings ‘Ready to Breathe,’ ‘Fire Burning,’ and ‘Oh My‘ onto his new record and also stamps on a new song ‘Goodbye My Friend’ that discusses complexity and chaos within a friendship.
This single pumps in backing vocals from indie scene stalwarts Mali and Tejas – who first interacted with Rahul during a singing competition that Rahul was contesting and came out victorious. Rahul acknowledges Tejas as a pivotal figure in the makings of this EP, swaying him to start recording his music after listening to the demos he was working on.
Clocking in at nearly five minutes, ‘Goodbye My Friend’ was penned by Rahul while letting go of a treasured acquaintance and limelights earth as an element, in which everything that blossoms eventually withers away. The words are dark and convey a gloomy portrait; however, true to his style of songwriting, Rahul impressively cobbles together a bright and radiant melody to counteract this.
Soulful key arrangments lay the canvas for the tune, with Rahul’s passionate vocals enveloping the melody. Flowing guitar rhythms, upbeat percussive patterns, and soothing vocal harmonies soon ensue, shaping a striking indie singer-songwriter composition.
About ‘Goodbye My Friend,’ the artist mentioned via a press release, “The song explores the bittersweet realization that sometimes the closest friendships aren’t always meant to last.” Rahul also shared a heartfelt message on social media about ‘Elements,’ saying, “This EP has taken me on a journey I never could have imagined. It would mean the world to me if you could give it a listen and share it with your peeps. I have to thank Tejas who heard my demos and pushed me to get into the studio, Bani Hidir who believed in these songs and came on board to produce them, and everyone who helped me make this EP and supported me along the way.”
