As we approach the end of this year, we can begin to plan out which music festivals we wish to attend in 2024 in the UK! We’ve put together a list of 12 music festivals, some featuring a line-up of international stars, established artists, emerging talents, and local musicians. They also offer workshops, wellness programs, and other entertainment, including dance, theater, speakers, and more.
From Parklife Festival to Chalfest 2024, below are some music festivals in the UK you need to attend in 2024.
Glastonbury Festival
When: June 26 – 30, 2024
Where: Somerset, England
Glastonbury Festival is not just among the biggest festivals in the UK but it also creates a buzz in the world at large. Held across five days, the festival sees thousands of revelers flock to Somerset, England, to celebrate music and arts. Featuring more than 60 stages, Glastonbury entertained about 210,000 people in 2022. From pop, rock, electronic, and hip hop to world music, you can get a taste of it all at this festival, which started in 1970.
Superstar Elton John, Guns N’ Roses, Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey, Lil Nas X, and Lizzo were among the popular artists who hit the Glastonbury stage last year. The festival also tapped dance music acts like drum & bass band Rudimental, SHERELLE, Wilkinson, Jyoty, Nia Archives, and Fatboy Slim.
For the first time ever, this festival was completely powered by renewable energy. “We’ve been trialling alternative and renewable fuels for over a decade. And after some successful trials with virgin, palm oil-free renewable HVO at the last couple of festivals, we decided to use it – in place of fossil oil-based fuel – in all our generators for this year’s festival,” Emily Eavis, the co-organizer of Glastonbury, said to NME. “This year’s switch to renewable fuels is just another step on our journey. In the long term, we’d like to be using more renewable energy from mains power, ideally generated onsite from solar and wind, and make more use of technology like our anaerobic digester,” Eavis continued.
In addition to witnessing some of your favorite artists play live, get a chance to discover and listen to artists/genres you don’t frequently hear. Thousands of acts grace the Glastonbury stage, with the festival also hosting comedy, cabaret, dance, theater, and circus! The line-up for the 2024 edition of the festival is yet to be announced.
