Dishing out freight loads of the most intense and intriguing electronic music from international and local deck magicians, Subtropics Festival is back for its 2024 edition! Headlined yet again by the legendary Mampi Swift, this three-day spectacle returns to Nomads Magnetic Island (previously Base Magnetic Island) in Queensland, Australia, from September 27 to 29, 2024. Touted as ‘a celebration of sound system culture,’ the venue is set to come alive with three stages, two sound systems, multiple stage takeovers, and a massive talent pool of performers. Traversing a soundscape crammed with UK garage, jungle, DnB, reggae, and dubstep, the phase one line-up boasts the likes of Sydney-based DnB producer Dauntless, Cairns-based tech house DJ SAFIRE, Brisbane’s Static Structures, veteran Journeyman, drum & techno duo Tidy & Samwise, and bass head UBERMOON. Acts also listed include NO KEYS, Kate Savage, Neptun3, Fourthstate, 4’20’ Sound, Honeypot, Bella Cool, Killadon, Jack Bussit, and Mariana Dub.
In addition to the music, the promoters have also staged pool and boat parties, club nights, closing night after-party, art displays, live performers, a yoga space, watersports, competitions, BBQ cookouts, music workshops, and more at this beachside location. EPIC sound systems are scheduled to light up the event.
