TFword in Conversation With INAMAR

We had a chat with the Swiss DJ and producer about her latest single on Sirup Records, how her journey began, her DJ sets and plans going forward.

Expertly navigating her sonic landscape between melodic techno and progressive house, and crafting a distinctive style that resonates deeply within the electronic, INAMAR’s sound is characterized by intricate melodies, driving basslines, and a masterful sense of progression, which together create immersive aural journeys.

INAMAR’s ascent has been driven not just by her exceptional production skills but also by her electrifying DJ sets, which effortlessly blend ethereal melodies with high-energy moments. Her rising status as a tastemaker in the scene has resulted in partnerships with esteemed labels and artists, solidifying her role as a pivotal figure in the realms of melodic techno and progressive house.

INAMAR’s rapid ascent in the electronic music scene has led her to join forces with fellow Swiss Grammy-nominated producer EDX’s Sirup Records. Showcasing her signature fusion of melodic techno and progressive house, the rising star continues her impressive streak with the release of her brand-new single, ‘Rhythm,’ on Sirup Records.

‘Rhythm’ is a vibrant and immersive track, built around hypnotic beats, atmospheric synths and introspective melodies. Like all of her releases, the track is entirely self-produced, highlighting INAMAR’s dedication to creating every element of her music herself. The release of ‘Rhythm’ follows a run of successful singles from INAMAR that have garnered international attention.

Earlier this year, INAMAR’s tracks ‘A Million Stars’ and ‘Sky Is The Limit’ both released on Sirup Records, garnered major support from dance music legends like David Guetta and EDX. Guetta even featured her music in his official Spotify playlist. These achievements have paved the way for her latest release, ‘Rhythm,’ a track that not only builds on her signature sound but also highlights her evolution as an artist.

With the release of her latest single, we were eager to dive deeper into INAMAR’s world—exploring the inspiration behind the track, her distinctive sound, and the evolution of her sonic journey over the years. Our conversation began by revisiting the pivotal moment that first drew her into the realm of electronic music production.

“It all started about seven years ago. That’s when I truly fell in love with music. I was at a concert at Ushuaïa, and it hit me like a lightning bolt—I knew I wanted to create music. When I got back home, I began teaching myself everything I could. It quickly became a huge passion of mine.

“Eventually, I wanted to share my music with others, which led me to DJing. I learned everything I could about it, and that’s how it all began. At first, I was drawn to styles like Kygo and Avicii—they inspired me a lot. But as I continued growing, my sound evolved. Now, I’m more into techno and progressive house, and it feels like the perfect fit for me.”

For INAMAR, her journey began with music production before she ventured into the world of DJing. After perfecting her skills away from the spotlight, we are keen to know her vision for the experience she curates for her audience on the dancefloor.

What is her method for engaging with the craft of DJing, and what type of auditory experience does she strive to create for her audience during her live performances? Is her emphasis on creating a specific ambiance, stirring certain feelings, or leading the audience through a developing musical story?

“While I was focused on producing, I realized I wanted to understand how the crowd felt about my music. That desire pushed me to step behind the decks—I wanted to experience their reaction and receive the feedback that is so important to a producer. Every time I play my tracks live, it’s truly the best feeling in the world.

INAMAR’s latest single on Sirup Records has captivated listeners with its infectious driving rhythms and dynamic energy. The track truly showcases her unique sound, blending melodic techno and progressive house with precision. So, we were curious to know when the inspiration for this track, and how did the creative process unfold from there.

“‘Rhythm’ is all about syncing with the rhythms of life. I created it right here in my music studio in Lugano, where the creative process always begins on the piano. You can actually see it in the background! For me, it starts with jamming and writing lyrics, which helps set the tone for the track. The energy of the crowd also played a huge role in shaping this song, as I love the feeling of being in rhythm with the people.

“I resonate with the energy of the track because it’s so immersive—it pulls you in and keeps you going, taking you on a journey. It’s that kind of flow I aim to create, and I’d love to take you through the creative process that led to ‘Rhythm.’

“As I mentioned, the crowd’s energy was a huge inspiration—being in sync with the rhythm of the moment. I’m always in rhythm with the music, and when you see me play, my legs are constantly moving to the beat. My studio in Lugano, located in the Italian part of Switzerland, is where I write all my songs on the piano. I love having the space and time to create in a quiet environment, just jamming around.”

INAMAR’s journey has been nothing short of fascinating. From releasing music on some of the most respected labels in the industry to performing at world-renowned venues, her rise has been marked by both dedication and creativity. Not only has she crafted a unique sound that blends melodic techno and progressive house but also made her presence felt on the global music scene.

We were curious to hear how INAMAR reflects on her journey so far. What has the experience been like for her, and how does she view her growth as both a producer and a DJ.

“It’s honestly crazy to think about how far I’ve come. Before diving fully into music, I used to work part-time at a bank while always keeping my music as my passion. But the turning point came about a year and a half ago when I made the bold decision to quit my job entirely and focus solely on music.

“My track ‘Always Love You’ made it into Spotify’s editorial playlist, Electronic Rising, which was an amazing milestone early in my career. It was such a surreal experience, especially considering it was at the beginning of my journey. Having my music featured in such a major playlist gave me a huge confidence boost as a producer and really motivated me to keep pushing forward. Being included in a playlist like that felt like a huge achievement, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity.

“Since then, it’s been incredible to see how things have unfolded. Everything has started falling into place, and I truly feel like I made the right choice. It wasn’t easy, though—I had to be really brave. A lot of people doubted me, questioning how I could possibly make a living from music. It took a lot of self-motivation to keep pushing forward. But looking back now, I’m amazed at how much has happened since then—it’s been a crazy ride.”

As we wrap up our conversation, we asked INAMAR about what’s coming up in the next few months in terms of new releases and live shows. Here’s a glimpse of what’s on the horizon, so you can stay tuned to INAMAR’s exciting release schedule.

“Absolutely, new music is on the way! As mentioned earlier, Rhythm is already out, and I’ve got a remix for Pretty Pink coming soon. I’m also working on another track that will be released in December. In addition, I’m exploring some exciting collaborations with other artists that are shaping up really well.

“Looking ahead to next year, I’m definitely aiming to take my music to an international stage. I’d love to play my tracks globally and share them with audiences around the world—hopefully, that will become a reality in 2025. Stay tuned for what’s next!”
