TFword in Conversation With Adam Nazar

Following Adam Nazar’s debut on Purified Records, we caught up with the versatile producer to discuss his early career, his latest single, and what’s next on the horizon.

Despite having made his debut in 2023, a quick dive into his back catalog reveals just how extensive and eclectic his musical influences are. As a multifaceted artist—producer, vocalist, DJ, and musician—Adam seamlessly blends a wide array of global genres and languages, infusing them with a futuristic edge that creates a truly unique and electrifying sound.

Drawing from melodic house at its core, his music is deeply rooted in the grooves of disco while incorporating elements from various ethnic traditions, creating rich and textured soundscapes. Over the last couple of years, Nazar has demonstrated a remarkable ability to experiment, pushing boundaries while maintaining a signature touch that makes his work stand out. His rapid evolution as a producer has now landed a release on the revered Purified Records.

Merging the sound that he believes in with Nora En Pure’s vision with Purified, Adam Nazar has teamed up with V Of Vossae for their second collaboration called ‘Omens.’ A deep, driving and hypnotic offering, the tune offers a wide range of influences that are a part of his sonic arsenal.

Following his debut on Purified Records, we sat down with Adam Nazar for a chat about his single, his sound, how he plans to move forward with his music, and here’s what he had to say:

TFword: Hey, thanks for taking the time out to chat with us. How has 2024 treated you so far?
Adam Nazar:
Excellent! I made some new friends in music and have been fortunate enough to release some solid tunes to close out the year.

TF: Before we dive deep into your music, how and when did the Adam Nazar journey begin?
Adam Nazar:
It began as a kid before I can remember studying violin under the Suzuki method up through high school and playing in the school orchestra. This Adam Nazar project started almost a decade ago and it feels like only now it’s getting started.

TF: Your latest single comes in the form of your debut on Purified Records. What is the feeling like?
Adam Nazar: We’re really happy with the feedback and response from the record. Also really grateful for the Purified fam they are a really cool team.

TF: ‘Omens’ feels like a dream that you simply don’t want to get out of. When did you start working on it and what was the process like until reaching the finish line?
Adam Nazar: Yes, it absolutely was and before you could blink, it was finished. It started with the chords and songwriting; from there, I just filled out the production, and last but not least, I reached out to V to double the vocals I had laid down, and from there, I felt it was special.

TF: V Of Vossae with her emotive vocals adds a unique depth to ‘Omens.’ How was it like working with her on the single?
Adam Nazar: Incredible. we have a lot of music we plan on releasing.

TF: What was the reason behind naming the tune ‘Omens’?
Adam Nazar:
It felt like the proper title for an uplifting melodic record like this.

TF: ‘Omens’ captures so many emotions with its grooves and the alluring vocals. What is that you were feeling when you were making this music?
Adam Nazar:
It came together pretty quick and it felt like the process flowed naturally hence the sort of organic/ethereal title “Omens”.

TF: Is there a specific style of music or genre that you would like to explore more in the future?
Adam Nazar: Yes I’ve put out mostly melodic house records with a couple disco, but will dive deeper into the disco sound with a lot of songs we are very excited to share.

TF: Talk us through how you go about your DJ sets.
Adam Nazar:
It all starts with a playlist for a mood and ultimately the crowd will guide you if you are open to their energy.

TF: Who would you regard as your dream B2B?
Adam Nazar:
I would say Calvin Harris or Daft Punk
