‘DJ Mehdi: Made in France’ is a six-part documentary series revolving around the life and career of the late French DJ/producer Mehdi, renowned for skillfully blending hip-hop with house music. He has had releases on the popular French electronic music record label Ed Banger Records. Mehdi Faveris-Essadi AKA DJ Mehdi, born in Asnières-sur-Seine, France, met with an untimely death in an accident at age 34. One of the most distinguished electronic artists, DJ Mehdi, is a part of the documentary series through personal videos and archive images. ‘DJ Mehdi: Made in France’ has been penned and directed by Thibaut de Longeville.

Carboot Soul Live at The Royal Festival Hall
Directed by Pedro Takahashi, ‘Carboot Soul Live at The Royal Festival Hall’ takes viewers behind the scenes through the creative process of Nightmare on Wax’s album ‘Carboot Soul,’ which came out 25 years ago. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the record, you can see footage from his live shows at The Royal Festival Hall in the documentary for which he joined forces with the Outlook Orchestra.

HYPER: The Stevie Hyper D Story
A release date has been set for the highly anticipated ‘HYPER: The Stevie Hyper D Story.’ The documentary highlights the iconic DnB MC Stevie Hyper D and will be released in over 50 ODEON cinemas in the UK and Ireland on November 15. Its worldwide premiere will be held on November 6 in London. Stevie Hyper D’s nephew, Darrell Austin, “goes on an emotional journey back to the thrilling apex of 90s jungle to discover first-hand his uncle’s enduring legacy. Born and raised in London, of Caribbean descent, Darrell and Stevie’s roots and heritage lie at the heart of this story,” as per the trailer’s description. ‘HYPER: The Stevie Hyper D Story’ also features interviews with greats like Andy C, DJ Rap, Evil B, Navigator, and Harry Shotta.
We Are Tomorrow 2024
Tomorrowland’s 2024 ‘We Are Tomorrow’ documentary is now available to stream on YouTube. The mini-documentary sees four festivalgoers at Tomorrowland in Belgium this year. One of the attendees at the 2024 festival is Brazilian DJ and producer Vintage Culture. In collaboration with Amazon Music, ‘We Are Tomorrow’ is a series that was launched 2 years ago and takes viewers on a moving journey with 4 attendees at the festival.
I Was There: The Rise of House Music in Chicago
The documentary follows the life of iconic Chicago-based DJ/producer and house music extraordinaire Ron Hardy before he passed away at 33 following his battle with AIDS. The film’s director Vito Nicholas has started a fundraiser to pay for production costs as well as “music rights and licensing in the final film.” Unfortunately, there exists no interviews or video footage of Ron and therefore it is important for the film crew to speak to artists to learn more about the evolution of early house music. Along with interviews with Jamie 3:26 and Robert Owens, the documentary ‘I Was There: The Rise of House Music in Chicago’ also centers on the early days of house music and the social issues in Chicago.
